Other Relatives- Midsummer A69 (cousin)

Type- 100% Northern Resident orca

Size- 20.6 feet long, 8,200lbs

Corky was captured in Pendour Harbor British Columbia on December 11th 1969 along with 12 other orcas. Six of the orcas were eventually bought and transfrerred to different marine parks, among them included Corky, the others were driven back out to sea. She was first sent to Marineland of the Pacific in California, where she met 2 other orcas, a male named Orky 2*,  and a female named Patches, later on an unnamed male* and female* joined them. The unnamed female was named Corky*. Once she died, Corky 2 got her name. Orky 2* and Corky 2 were the only orcas left at Marineland by 1972. Between 1977 and 1986, Corky 2 gave birth to over 6 calves all cired by Orky 2, the longest living one, a young female named Kiva*, died after only 46 days of life. In 1987 Corky 2 and Orky 2* were sold to Seaworld San Diego, where later on in the year, Corky 2 suffered her 7th and final failed pregnancy, which ended in a miscarriage, probably due to the stress put upon Corky 2 from her move to Seaworld. In 1988, Corky 2's long time mate and friend Orky 2 died after becoming ill, only 3 days after the birth of his first successful daughter Orkid. In 1989, Corky 2 and Orkid were performing in a show when all of a sudden, Orkid's highly dominant mother Kandu 5* charged at Corky 2. Corky ended up escaping with but a few rake marks but Kandu 5* wasnt as lucky, she ended up ramming one of the back walls and ruptering and artery in her jaw. Trainers immediately began to notice something was wrong when Kandu 5* began spewing out blood, the croud was immediately ushered out, and after a 45 minute hemmorage, Kandu 5* died, leaving baby Orkid orphaned. Corky 2 became Orkid's surrogate mother, and the two hold extremely strong bonds to this day, Orkid will defend Corky mercilessly in the event the other orcas pick on her. Today Corky 2 continues to live at Seaworld San Diego, she loves calves and acts as a surrogate mother to calves whose mothers have either died, or shown agression to them. She is very sweet and well behaved and gets alont with all of the other whales with the exception of Ulises, who is known to pick on her. She is usually the first orca newcomer trainers are allowed to get in the water with.

Name- Lolita aka Tokitae

Sex- Female

Captured- August 8th, 1970, Penn Cove, Washington State at the age of 4 years

Current Residense- Miami Seaquarium

Mother- L25 aka Ocean Sun

Other Relatives- Hugo* (possible brother as stated in other sources)

Type- 100% Southern Resident orca

Size- 20 feet, 7,500lbs

Tokitae as she was originally named, was captured along with 80 other orcas in Penn Cove Washington on August 8th, 1970. Of the 80 orcas, only 7 were bought and transferred to various marine parks, the other 73 were released. Tokitae was sent to the Miami Seaquarium in Miami Florida, there she met a male named Hugo. Hugo was kept in the back pool which is now used to house manatees, away from Tokitae for fear the two wouldnt get along. One night, the park owner's wife heard Hugo calling to Tokitae and she mentioned it sounded like he was calling to his "Lolita", and from that day on, the name stuck. Thus in 1972, Hugo and Lolita were put together in the main tank. They performed daily along with occasional groups of dolphins. The two orcas would on occasion become highly aggressive, and there seemed to only be a few trainers whom they would trust. On March 4th, 1980, Hugo died of a brain anuerism after continously ramming his head against the tank walls. Due to the fact of Lolita's extremely small living conditions, their have been numerous attempts from activists to release her, none have proved successful. Lolita lives in a tank that is around 20 feet at the deepest, thus her tail is usually touching the bottom.

Name- Katina

Sex- Female

Captured- October 1978 off the Iceland Coast at the age of 2 years

Current Residence- Seaworld Orlando Florida

Daughters- Kalina, Katerina*, Unna, Nalini

Sons- Taku, Ikaika

Possible Relatives- Betty*

Other Relatives- Skyla (grandaughter), Nalini (grandaughter inbred), Keet (grandson), Keto (grandson), Taur (grandson), Trua (grandson), Unna's stillborn (grandchild), Kalia (great grandaughter), Halyn (great grandaughter)

Type- 100% Icelandic

Size- 16.4 feet, 5,600lbs

Katina, along with another female named Betty*, and an unnamed male, was captured off of the Icelandic coast in October of 1978. She was first sent to Marineland Cananda where she was originally named Kandu 6, it is here where it is believed her training began. In 1979, after less than a year at Marineland, Katina was moved to Seaworld California, it is here where she got to know an older male by the name of Winston*, and the two eventually mated. In 1982, Katina was moved to Seaworld Ohio, along with another female by the name of Kasatka. The two performed there for 2 years, during the winter months they would be moved back to San Diego. In 1984, Katina was finally transferred to Seaworld Orlando, where she has remained to this day. On September 26th, 1985, Katina went into labor, and within hours, a baby female orca was swimming around the pool, thus making Katina the first successful orca mother in captivity. The baby was later named Kalina, who had been cired by Winston* when Katina was in California. In 1988, Katina gave birth to her second daughter, later named Katerina*, less than 2 years later, Kalina was transferred out of Orlando and sent to various other parks. In 1991, Katerina* was sent to Ohio, and later Texas, where she died in 1999. In 1993, Kalina gave birth to her first son, later named Keet, thus making Katina a grandmother. On September 9th, 1993, Katina gave birth to her 4th calf and first son, later named Taku*. In 1994, Kalina was brought back to the Orlando park, where she has remained to this day. On December 27th, 1996, Katina gave birth to her third daughter, and 4th calf, later named Unna. On August 25th, 2002, Katina gave birth yet again to another male, later named Ikaika, Ikaika and his older brother Taku could be seen frequently playing with eachother in the tanks. On September 18th, 2006, Katina gave birth to her 6th, and most recent calf, a little girl named Nalani. Nalani's father is Katina's 1st son Taku, thus meaning Nalani is inbred, however she appears to be doing just fine. Later on in 2006, Taku* was moved to Seaworld San Antonio, and Ikaika was moved to Marineland Ontario. Before Taku* left Orlando, he had mated with another female by the name of Takara, resulting in a young male calf later named Trua, and making Katina a grandmother yet again. Katina is also a great-grandmother when her daughter Kalina's first born Keet, cired a female named Kalia, born at the San Diego park, and Halyn*, born at the San Antonio park. Today Katina is healthy and active, she is very sweet and loving to both orcas and trainers alike, however she never seemed to have gotten along with Taima. She along with her daughter Kalina are used as "starter whales" for newcomer trainers. She is usually seen with her daughter Nalani, Kalina, and another female named Kayla. She is the dominant female at SWF, despite this title, she is pretty laid back, and is never aggressive. She is rather bulky, and her dorsal fin is flopped 90 degrees to its left.

Name- Kasatka

Sex- Female

Captured- October 1978 off of the Iceland coast at the age of 1 year

Current Residence- Seaworld San Diego California

Daughters- Takara and Kalia

Sons- Nakai

Other Relatives- Kohana (grandaughter) Trua (grandson)

Type- 100% Icelandic

Size- 17 feet long, 5,400lbs

October 1978,  3 orcas are captured off of the coast of Iceland, one male and 2 females. The male was eventually named Kotar*, and one of the females was eventually named Kasatka. Kasatka was eventually sold to Seaworld, where she performed in Ohio during the summer months, along with another female named Katina, then during winter months she would be transferred to San Diego, while Katina was sent to Orlando. In November of 1987, Kasatka was purchased by Seaworld Orlando, where she was reunited with Katina. Less than a year later, Kasatka was transfereed to Seaworld Texas, here she developed a bond with Kotar*, the male she had been captured with years ago, and the two eventually mated. In February 1990, Kasatka was finally sent back to San Diego where she has remained ever since. 1992 brought the birth of Kasatka's first calf, a little girl later named Takara, who had been cired by Kotar. Kasatka proved to be an excellant performer, however only the more skilled trainers were allowed to work with her due to her aggression, which started to be shown in 1999, when she injured a trainer, the injurys were not too terribly serious and Kasatka continued to perform. In 2000, Kasatka, her daughter Takara, and a younger female named Orkid were all artificially inseminated by sperm from the bull Tillikum in Seaworld Orlando. All but Orkid were eventually impregnated, and a little over a year later, Kasatka gave birth to her first calf in over ten years, a little male later named Nakai. In 2002, Kasatka became a grandmother when her oldest daughter Takara gave birth to a daughter herself, later named Kohana. During the months of 2003, Kasatka mated with a younger male by the name of Keet, who was eventually transferred out to Seaworld San Antonio. In April of 2004, Takara and her daughter Kohana were sent to Seaworld Orlando. Then on December 21st, 2004, Kasatka gave birth to her third calf, a little female named Kalia. On November 29th, 2006, Kasatka again showed her famed aggression, when she attacked senior trainer Ken Peters during a night show, bit his leg and dragged him underwater and held him there for over 30 seconds, until trainers were able to seperate the two by a net. Peters was hospitilized and claimed he would never swim with Kasatka again. Kasatka was eventually taken off waterworks, and hasnt performed actually in the water with a trainer since then. Today Kasatka healthy and approaching her 30s. She is a very reliable and strong performer, and excellant mother, she gets along with the majority of the parks other orcas with occasional exceptions of Ulises and Corky2, though she can be highly aggressive, she is very loving when she feels like it.

Current Residence- SeaWorld San Diego California

Daughters- None

Sons- None

Type- 100% Icelandic

Size- 20.3 feet long, 9,600lbs

Ulises is the only mature bull at Seaworld California. Before moving there, he had spent some time at Aquarma Barcelona in Spain, he lived there for over ten years before his move to SWC. Ulises lived with a small group of dolphins in the same tank as him in Barcelona, he became aggressive with them. In 1994, Ulises made the trip to SWC, and has remained there ever since. He gets along with all the orcas at Seaworld San Diego, with the exception of Corky 2, who he tends to bulley on occasion. Many attempts have been made to use Ulises' sperm to impregnate females, but so far without success, trainers believe he may have a low sperm count. We can only hope that someday, there will be some little Ulises' swimming around the tanks. Ulises is very sweet-natured, and is one of the few adult males who enjoys trainers in the water with him. He is occasionally bulleyed by the other females, trainers refer to him as a big marshmellow. Ulises is easily recognized as the biggest male at SWC and is unique dorsal fin, which only curves half way down.

Name- Tilikum

Sex- Male

Captured- November of 1983 off the Iceland coast at the age of 2 years

Current Residence- Seaworld Orlando Florida

Daughters- Nyar*, Unna, Kalina's stillborn of 1997*, Kohana, Skyla, and Malia

Sons- Kyuquot, Nootka 4's 1992 calf*, Taku*, Sumar, Taur, Tekoa, Haida 2's Stillborn, Nakai, and Ikaika

Possible Relatives- Nandu*, and Samoa

Other Relatives- Trua (grandson), Nalani (granddaughter), Nootka 4's 1994 stillborn*, and Gudrun's 1996 stillborn*

Type- 100% Icelandic

Size- 22.5 feet long, and 12,300lbs

Tilikum is the largest orca living in captivity today, and the most successul breeding male. He doesn't do waterwork with any of his trainers, not because of of aggression, just due to the fact he doesn't know his own strength. Tilikum first lived at Sealand of the Pacific with two females, one named Nootka 4 and a pregnant Haida 2. He was often picked on by the other orcas. All together, the three orcas were usually aggressive towards their trainers. In February of 1991, Keltie Byrne, a Sealand trainer, slipped and fell into the orca tank. The curious orcas came over to her and started grabbing at her legs and tossing her to eachother, resulting in Byrne's drownding, and the closing of Sealand soon after; as well as Tilikums sale to Seaworld Orlando, where he has remained ever since. Since then, Tilikum has done no waterwork with any of his trainers, nor is he allowed to swim with any of the other orcas with the exception of a female by the name of Taima, and her new calf Malia. Despite their great size difference, Taima definately dominates over him. Tilikum is a healthy and very sweet orca and is seen often in Seaworld's shows.

Kalina is famous for being the first successful captive born orca, and also the first captive-born to give birth. She is a very reliable performer and there have been no records of aggression from her towards her trainers. She is very sweet and gets along with all of the other orcas at SWF, including the dominant female there, Katina, who is also her mother, although they dont ever seem to treat one another as if they are mother and daughter any more. She is seen most of the time with her mother Katina and her mothers new calf Nalani, as well as another female by the name of Kayla. She can be confused with her mother considering both of their dorsal fins are collapsed in relatively the same position at the left, however, Kalina is larger than her mother, and has two black dots on her lower right rostrum. She is very intellegent and seems to learn very quickly and is yet again famous for becoming the first captive-born orca grandmother with her son Keet's daughter Halyn.

Orkid is a beautiful adult female orca at SWC. She, however, has a sad history. Her father, Orky 2, passed away only 3 days after her birth; and roughly a year later, Orkid's mother Kandu 5 passed away in a tragic accident involving another orca female by the name of Corky 2. Kandu 5 had always been a fairly aggressive orca, and when newcomer Corky 2 first arrived at SWC, Kandu 5 wasnt pleased. During a show in 1989, when Orkid was roughly a year old, Kandu 5 rammed Corky 2 at full speed. Corky 2 escaped with but a rake mark, but Kandu 5 wasn't so lucky, she ended up ramming the side wall, and rupturing an artery in her jaw. Trainers immediately noticed something was wrong, and the crowd was quickly ushered out of the stadium. Kandu 5 lived for another 45 minutes, before passing away from the loss of blood. During the last 45 minutes of her life, Kandu 5 swam along side her daughter Orkid, until the end. Orkid is a very sweet orca, but can be aggressive at sometimes. She is Kasatka, the dominant female's right hand girl. She gets along with all of the orcas, and her trainers for the most part.

Kayla is a beautiful adult female orca currently residing at SeaWorld Florida. She is perhaps the most used orca there. She is very sweet with both trainers and the other orcas and is a quick learner and seems to enjoy what she does. She is indeed a very reliable orca. On October 9th, 2005, Kayla gave birth to her first calf, a little girl named Halyn. Trainers immediately noticed something was wrong, Kayla ignored her newborn calf. Halyn had been rejected by her mother, and ended up having to be hand raised by humans. Hayln is the first orca ever to be raised by the hands of man, and it seems to have done her just fine. Kayla is used quite often in Orlando's shows, in fact there is rarely a show there that shes not in. She usually performs alongside Kalina, her mother Katina, and her daughter Nalani.

Taima, name meaning ''crash of thunder'' in the Icelandic language, is a mature adult female orca currently residing at Seaworld Florida. Born to mother Gudrun and Father Kanduke, Taima had a somewhat of a rough early life. Taima's mother Gudrun gave birth to a weak calf, named Nyar, and in an attempt to end Nyar's life, Gudrun would rake her alongside her body, all the while Taima was watching, studying her mothers movements, and assuming that that must be the proper way to care for a calf. On February 21st, 1996, Taimas mother Gudrun went into labor, but never made it through, and ended up dying, again, with Taima watching, roughly 2 months later, Taimas half sister Nyar passed away as well. On May 14th, 1998, Taima gave birth to her first calf, a male named Sumar. Taima approved to be a highly aggressive mother, and during a show, she cornered him in the tank, and started biting him, and tossing him out of the pool, this resulted in their immediate separation, and Sumars transfer to Seaworld California. On November 8th, 2000, Taima had her second calf, another male, named Tekoa. Trainers hoped for better results in parenthood for Taima, however they did not. Tekoa had been swimming with an older female named Katina, when Taima supposedly got ''jealous'' and charged at Tekoa. Katina tried stopping Taima, then Taima got angry and went for Katina, almost causing a pregnant Katina to have a miscarriage. Tekoa was immediately seperated from his mother, and transferred to Seaworld San Antonio, and eventually Loro Parque in Spain. On March 12th, 2007, Taima had her 3rd calf, this time a little girl named Malia. Trainers felt optimistic on how the mother-offspring relationship would work out, but to their surprise, Taima was very sweet to Malia, and was never aggressive. Malia lives with Taima at Seaworld Orlando to this day, and they seem to get along perfect. Taima doesnt do any waterwork with her trainers, and there are only a handful of orcas who she seems to tolerate, among them are Tilikum (of whom Taima is the only orca able to swim with him), Takara, and her son Trua.

Daughters- Kohana

Sisters- Kalia (half sister/niece)

Born the first calf to her mother Kasatka, Takara was immediately recognized as being a playful and attention-loving calf, and to this day, these traits follow her. Despite her love for attention, she was still a great mother to her first born calf, Kohana, and again with her second born Trua. Takara, and both of her calves are very interactive, and playful. Tiki is easily recognized due to the large scar on her chin and that her dorsal fin is perhaps the straigthest of all the captive orcas at SWF. She is seen usually with her calf Trua, and is one of the few orcas that gets along with Taima, of whom she can also be seen swimming with alongside Taima's daughter Malia.

Kyuquet, is currently the oldest and largest orca at Seaworld San Antonio. He is famous for being the first offspring of Tilikum, who is now considered a playboy among orcas due to his great success in breeding. Kyuquet was very close to his mother Haida 2 when she was alive, and when Haida was dominant female at SWT, Kyuquet could literally do what he want. Haida's death put Ky into a deep deppression, that took him weeks to recover from. Kyuquet is usually seen with eithe Keet or his half brother Tuar, but gets along well with all of the other orcas.

He is reaching his expected full size and is one of the few large males in captivity that allows trainers to get in the water with him. He is an excellant performer and gets along well with both trainers and the other park's orcas. His dorsal fin leans to its right, odd for an orca.

She is currently the only orca at Six Flags California. Attempts have been made to purchase the Mundo Marino lone bull Kshamenk as a tankmate for Shouka, but all attempts failed. Ku, is a member of the famous Taiji 5 or group, a groupe of orcas rounded up in Hatajiri bay in 1997. A total of 10 orcas were trapped in the bay, and kept there for a while until those who captured them were able to strike deals with aquariums to purchase them, out of the 10 orcas rounded up, 5 were taken and brought to aquariums, the other 5 were driven out of the bay. She was originally at the Taiji whaling museum with two other orcas, Asuka*, and Nami. Asuka was later sold to Izu-Mito Paradise, leaving Nami and Ku. The two did not get along, and Ku was eventually sold to the Nagoya port Aquarium, where she remains to this day. Ku is currently the only suriving member of the Taiji 5. Plans have been to move Ku and Nami to the new Beijing Aquarium within the next two years, however no ones sure on how this is possible, due to Ku and Nami's aggressiveness towards eachother.

Sumar is the first offspring of Taima. Born at SeaWorld Orlando, at only 3 months of age, his mother, during a show, pinned him in the corner of the tank, and started raking and biting him. Sumar and Taima were immediately seperated, and never saw eachother again. Katina and Kalina acted as his surrogate mothers, until finally he was moved to SeaWorld Ohio, and later California, where he remains to this day. At Seaworld California, he was often watched over by an older female named Bjossa*, and the parks oldest orca Corky 2. He has developed strong bonds with two other calves, Kasatka's son Nakai, and daughter Kalia. He also had a close bond with Splash*, and seemed quite upset at Splash's death. Today Sumar is nearing the size of a typical adult bull orca, he gets along with all of the other orcas, however Kasatka has a tendancy to pick on him every now and then. He is a reliable performer. His dosal fin is beginning to flop to its left.

Tekoa is the second born orca from Taima, and like his brother Sumar before him, did not have a good relationship with his mother. At only a few months old, Tekoa and his mother Taima were seperated due to aggressions between them, Taima was often seen harassing Tekoa. He was eventually sent to SeaWorld Texas, where he was often seen with Kayla and Unna. On February 13th, 2006, Tekoa and Keto, another male from the park, were sold to Loro Parque Spain, along with Skyla and Kohana, two females from SeaWorld Orlando Florida. He is now usually seen with Keto in Spain. On October 8th, 2007, Tekoa was responsible for an attack on trainer Claudia Vollhardt. Tekoa supposedly rammed Vollhardt, and dragged her underwater, then all of a sudden, grasped ahold of her arm and brought her back up to the surface. Vollhardt has an injured lung and had her forearm broken in two places. Other than this incident, Tekoa is usually a friendly orca, and gets along well with the other orcas at the park. His dorsal is beginning to lean to its left.

Nalani is the most recent calf to her mother Katina and father Taku*. Many have been skeptic on how the health of this calf would progress due to the fact she is inbred, simply put, her half brother is her father, and her mother is also her grandmother. However, Nalani seems to be doing just fine, and before the birth of Malia, the youngest calf at Seaworld Florida, she would usually be seen with an older calf named Trua. Now however, she spends most of her time with her mother Katina. Nalani is indeed a mama's girl. She has been performing in shows already for quite some time, usually seen alongside her mother, and older half sister Kalina, as well as a female name Kayla.

Malia is the most recent calf born to Mother Taima and her father Tilikum, not to mention the most recent calf born in captivity in the world. Trainers felt skeptic on how the mother-daughter relationship between Taima and Malia would work out, considering the fact that Taima had abused and harassed her past two calves; but to everyones amazement, Taima has been very sweet to Malia, and to this day they are together. Malia is usually with her mother, and Takara, an older female and her son Trua. Trua and Malia are also virtually inseperable. She has already begun training and is seen occasionally in shows alongside her mother and sometimes even her father Tilikum
